Today, at Enterprise School, students were briefly placed under a “shelter in place” order after a piece of ammunition was found in the cafeteria. According to an email sent by Principal Dufresne to parents, staff discovered the ammunition early in the day, prompting an immediate response from school officials and law enforcement.

The school was not placed under a full lockdown, which is reserved for active threats. Instead, the “shelter in place” allowed learning to continue, though students were not permitted to leave their classrooms or change classes while law enforcement conducted a thorough search of the school.

No additional ammunition or weapons were found during the search, and officials emphasized that there was never a direct threat made toward students or staff. Principal Dufresne reassured parents that the safety of students is the school’s top priority and that the investigation into how the ammunition ended up on campus is ongoing.

The principal also took the opportunity to clarify the differences between a “shelter in place” and a lockdown, explaining that the former is used when there is no active threat, allowing for some continued activities within the school.

Parents were thanked for their understanding and support, with the assurance that the school remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
